About Brian

Who is Brian Switay?

My name is Brian Switay and I am a communications major with minors in business and women’s studies at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. I love being part of the Wilkes community. In addition to my studies, I am program director of Wilkes’ student-run radio station, WCLH 90.7 FM, and I am director of the student-run television show Wilkes World. I served as a resident assistant, as well as an E-Mentor. I have been involved in Students in Media, and I played football in my freshman year. I also am part of The National Society of Leadership and Success, and I completed the Leadership Wilkes-Barre and Emerging Leaders programs.

When I am not busy with my studies, I tend to seek out the newest music. I cannot be away from my iPod or I will go crazy. I usually listen to anything that catches my ear, has a good beat and really catches my mood. I also enjoy movies and television shows. My favorite movies are The Departed, The Godfather, Gone With The Wind, and The Wizard of Oz. My favorite television shows are Entourage, Mad Men, The Big Bang Theory, Big Brother, and The Amazing Race. I also enjoy listening to music and watching movies with my friends and family. I love relaxing by driving around in my car. After Wilkes, I plan to move to New York and land a job in Manhattan that uses skills learned at Wilkes and in high school.

This semester I am interning in Manhattan at The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. I find it extremely interesting to be involved in a company that operates and maintains the New York/New Jersey region’s trade and transportation infrastructure, including the John F. Kennedy and Newark airports, Lincoln Tunnel, George Washington Bridge and the World Trade Center. I work in the Audio Visual/Photo Services and Marketing Department. I plan to expand my knowledge of certain programs and skills while I explore working in Manhattan. I am blending my interests to discover how much one company can reach a nation and link many other nations together.
